F.A.S. Model Profiles
1. What does Fat Ass Swag mean to you?
Blake: It means empowerment that is revolutionary and breaking boundaries set by the establishment for plus-sized men.
Brandon: Fat Ass Swag means a variety of things to me. First, it means being innovative in your style. Secondly, it is a movement for all men of size and who also have style to come and share stylistic views. Lastly, Fat Ass Swag pertain to a person size as well as their wardrobe. It means having a “fat ass” collection of clothing.
Chris: For me it gives big men and boys with style a place to grow, express, motivate, and connect with others like us.
2. How would you describe your style?
Blake: I would describe my style as dapper, gentleman, and swanky.
Brandon: I would identify my style as classic man with an urban blend. My style reflects my affinity to mix the old with the new.
Chris: I would describe my style as classic mixed with some of the newer styles of today. I love having timeless pieces in my closet. It makes for a more versatile wardrobe. Shoes are everything when it comes to my style!
3. How did you figure out your personal style?
Blake: I go with classic lines and quality craftsmanship. Wardrobe staples to endure trends. Class never goes out of style.
Brandon: My style is inspired by whatever I think is hot at the moment but Kanye West and Andre Leon Talley definitely inspired my style, but I also polish my own style by taking fashion risk which may not be the norm for a bigger guy. If you are anyone of size male or female you have to know what works for your body type. All body types are NOT created equal but once you figure out what works for you harness that but don’t be afraid to mix your style up from time to time.
Chris: My personal style is inspired by my father. He was a big guy growing up, so he knew a lot about the challenges I would face looking for clothing. He was always sharp! When dressing for a bigger body FIT IS SO IMPORTANT! Especially when it comes to suiting and even more casual wear. I've found that clothing companies have moved to a more European cut instead of a full cut so go up a size or two.
4. What are some current places you like to shop? (List at least 5)
Blake: Banana Republic, Kohl’s, Macy's, Dillard’s, Old Navy, Rag & Bone and Hugo Boss.
Brandon: Burlington, American Eagle, Old Navy, Aldo, Dillard’s, Macy’s, TJ Maxx, Kohl’s, Wilson is Leather, Ralph Lauren, Zara, and ASOS when they have stuff that is one size fits all.
Chris: Dillard's, Dr. Jays online shop, theayvstore.com , Cole Han, and Nike.
5. What are some of the hottest trends you are liking right now?
Blake: Dapper haircuts, fitted suits. Pocket watches. Timeless style.
Brandon: I like the denim on denim look that is coming back as well as wide brim hats they are timeless.
Chris: I'm really into the monochromatic looks and the comeback of hats.
6. Why is having a site like FAS and clothing line catered to men is important?
Blake: Because we are a demographic typically seen as slovenly which translates to poor quality, ill-fitting "leisurely like" clothes. We are far from that. Athletes, professionals. Titans. We should not be limited in our fashion choices by others preconceived notions of what a "big man" should be.
Brandon: I created Fat Ass Swag for that reason to fill that void of a site and clothing line that catered to men of size. It is important because our voices matter and it establishes a common ground where people who are bigger can go. I wish I had the means to open up a department for men and women of size, but unfortunately I don’t.
Chris: Men of bigger sizes are limited to a handful of stores, so having space for men like us to create dialogue and shop is great!
7. What is missing in the fashion industry for plus-size men?
Blake: The ability to purchase quality pieces prêt-à-porter. We are typically limited to ill-fitting mass produced clothes with inconsistent sizing, which is never flattering for any person of any size.
Brandon: There is literally so much that is missing in the industry for plus-size men, but the short answer is innovative and affordable clothing brands for bigger men.
Chris: Creativity is missing! Also, if you’re a big guy and fashionable it is going to cost.
